About this event

A Scent of Flowers, written by British playwright James Saunders, is a thought-provoking drama presented by The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Set against the social and cultural changes of the 1960s, the play explores the complexities of love, faith, family relationships and personal identity. The story follows Zoe, a 22-year-old woman struggling with emotional conflict shaped by her Catholic upbringing, her parents' separation and a forbidden relationship. Through memories and the perspectives of those closest to her, the production gradually reveals the tensions and relationships that have influenced her life. Directed and translated by Acty Tang, this Cantonese-language production brings Saunders' compelling exploration of human emotions to the stage. Performed by emerging theatre talents at the Academy Studio Theatre, the play invites audiences to reflect on faith, hope, love and the lasting impact of personal choices.
