Asia+ Festival 2026 - ‘The Connected Stage’ Series: Kylián and Sangba

‘The Connected Stage’ Series: Kylián and Sangba City Contemporary Dance Company Programme ‘The Connected Stage’ Series: Kylián and Sangba, a featured programme of City Contemporary Dance Festival 2026, and the Asia+ Festival 2026. It brings two master choreographers together, Jiří Kylián and CCDC Artistic Director Sang Jijia—to observe human consciousness. Floating between reality and imagination, stillness and momentum, Jiří Kylián & Sang Jijia invites audiences to confront the quiet corners of the inner self. From stillness yields to movement, letting memory glide across the dark, movement crystallise into landscape. Jiří Kylián’s classic Sleepless, world-premiere in 2004, stands as one of most defining creations of contemporary dance. It cuts through the still night with abstract movement, tracing the solitude of the insomniac and the mind adrift. Time lingers between stillness and suspension, leaving behind a faint echo. In Sang Jijia’s brand-new creation, a | ch, far and near views intersect, while light, shadow and bodies overlap. The landscape resists being seen all at once, leaving room for the imagination to continue.
