About the team

The Planning and Budgeting Section (PBD) is part of the Hong Kong Administration Department (HKAD), responsible for planning business strategies and policies and controlling budgeting expenses for the Hong Kong office.  

The Budgeting Team is holding responsibilities in supporting planning business strategies and policies, planning budgeting expenses and preparing estimations of expenses.  The Team is also preparing materials or reports to management, head office and regulatory authorities.   As required, the Team plays a role to coordinate intra-departmental issues in the Hong Kong office.

Role requirements

  • To handle budget planning with data analysis and oversee the budget control for the Hong Kong office.
  • To frequently communicate with Head Office departments in Tokyo and make necessary reports to Head Office.
  • To assist Management Accounting Team to perform management accounting function of Hong Kong office.
  • As a team player, support knowledge and career development of junior staff.

Essential Functions

  • Plan business strategies and related policies. 
  • Plan budgeting expenses and prepare estimations of expenses.
  • Control, support and provide guidance on the expenses for Hong Kong office.

Competencies

  • We are looking for an individual who wants to participate in the transformation of our organization/business model/operation to medium-term or tangible growth;
  • Enhances internal and external network and acquires knowledge for executing deals and tasks;
  • Effectively negotiates with wide range of his/her external/internal counterparties to execute deals/tasks;
  • Nurtures the performance and potential of juniors by providing regular feedback/guidance;
  • Independent, self-motivated with strong managerial and communication skills; and
  • Able to work under pressure under tight timeline.

Work experience, education and skills

  • University degree holder or above in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance;
  • 4 years of working experience in business planning, budgeting and control, Management Accounting or Finance function;
  • Preferably in Financial industry;
  • Proficient in MS office, especially in data analysis;
  • Good spoken and written English;
  • Japanese at N1 level or good command of Japanese would be an advantage;
  • Suitable candidate with less experience will be considered as Assistant Vice President.
