Job Summary:
The successful candidate will work in the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team which provide second line oversight on the methods and processes used by the organization to manage its risk in achieving its objectives. As part of the ERM team, the individual would gain insight into how risks are managed, monitored and governed across the organization. The individual will primarily be responsible for:

1. Supporting risk governance mandate to ensure that the company is compliant with the governance protocol for appropriate adherence and escalation;
2. Analyzing and reporting relevant risks for the Group, which utilizes organizational risk data and/or global financial markets data to identify emerging risks/ trends and support scenario analysis for HKEX Group Management and Board escalation.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and enhance risk reports that are produced to allow for transparency, monitoring and appropriate escalation of risks to senior management (e.g. Top Risk Report, Systemic Risk Report, etc.), utilizing internal organizational risk data, or external markets data to surface emerging risks that are of focus and relevance for HKEX Group. Ability to innovate, synthesize information for analysis to from risk-based conclusions, and enhance reports in surfacing topical risks will be an advantage;
  • Develop, implement and maintain the HKEX Group risk governance framework. Assist in the management of risk management committees, primarily on drafting of meeting minutes, preparation of committee risk reports, meeting coordination, liaison with members and various government bodies / regulators on risk committee matters. Attention to detail is crucial;
  • Enhance and contribute to the improvement of existing governance protocols and drive internal risk discussion forums/ working groups. Ensure appropriate documentation and materials are in place, and support these meetings' organization from end to end;
  • Contribute to management, discussion and development of the Group's Risk Appetite Statements and its reporting framework - this includes analyzing of trends, understanding of metrics rationale, enhancing reporting structure etc.;
  • Assist with the organization, implementation and adherence of initiatives and projects that feed into the Group Risk Management framework, such as the Group Policy development and its review lifecycle, Quarterly Business Reviews, etc.). Identify and address variances, if any, to ensure alignment and consistency across the HKEX Group;
  • Contribute to the development of GRM deliverables for the management and Board risk committees, including but not limited to, the Group Risk Officer's summary of risks impacting markets and the Group's operations.
Requirements:
  • University Degree in Business/ Risk/ Economics. Having professional qualification in risk/ governance could be an advantage (e.g. Financial Risk Manager certification (FRM), qualified member of Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (HKCGI));
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin) is essential;
  • Understanding of capital markets with ability to perform rigorous analysis of quantitative and qualitative factors;
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience;
  • Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams within risk as well as with other groups within the company. Effective communication is crucial;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills;
  • Proven senior stakeholder management skills;
  • Risk governance and policy management experience in financial institutions; and
  • Experience of financial services regulation and engagement with regulatory bodies.
