Role Overview:
This is a position opening for university graduates interested to build a career in the back engine of financial markets. As a Trainee in the Operations & Settlement Department of a hedge fund, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of operations, including exchange- traded and OTC settlement, static data maintenance, corporate action, capital management, regulatory reporting, etc. You will be assigned to support specific operations functions and projects based on business needs, and gradually build up the necessary skill sets to become an all-rounded operations professional in the brokerage business.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform daily settlement and operational support across various exchange-traded and OTC products in an accurate and timely manner.
•Liaise with front office, clients, counterparties, IT and/or custodians to resolve trade and settlement issues.
•Handle corporate actions events, cash payment instruction, identify and resolve exceptions. Ensure corporate actions deadlines are fully met to limit any exposures.
•Conduct regular client/counterparty review and account opening with different counterparties.
•Perform daily reconciliations and reporting. Support month-end and regulatory reporting as needed.
•Support the team in other relevant areas and perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
•Manage FATCA/CRS reporting, GIIN/LEI applications and renewals, and other regulatory identifier maintenance.
•Draft and prepare legal documents under the guidance of legal and compliance teams.
•Handle investor subscription and redemption requests, including coordination with fund administrators and preparing relevant documentation.
Requirements:
•University graduate with a business related degree. Fresh graduates are welcomed.
•Efficient and accurate processing of operational functions with strong sense of accuracy.
•Proficient in MS Excel; knowledge of VBA, Python, or SQL is a plus.
•Strong attention to detail, risk awareness, able to work under pressure and willing to work shift or overtime.
•Proactive mindset and willing to take ownership.
•Team-focused, being able to take up more responsibilities as needed.
•Good communication skills in English and Mandarin; additional languages are advantageous.
