CNN Is Now Least Trusted News Network

POSTED BY Ed (10 mths ago)
A recent poll of cable news network viewers found that CNN’s regular audience is far more skeptical of the political news they receive than Fox News fans.

In the poll published Wednesday by Rasmussen Reports, 1,000 likely voters were asked to describe their media viewing habits. Seventy-five percent said they watch at least some form of cable news each week, with 42 percent saying they most frequently watch Fox News, 35 percent usually choosing CNN, and 19 percent favoring MSNBC.

An even 50 percent of frequent Fox News viewers agreed with a followup question, “Do you trust the political news you are getting?” By comparison, 43 percent of frequent MSNBC viewers and just 33 percent of those who mostly watch CNN said they trust their political news.

According to a November survey by Rasmussen, 37 percent of voters still say they get most of their news from cable news networks. Voters in general were highly critical of the election coverage, with the strongest criticism coming from the 7 percent of those polled who said they mostly get their news from social media, rather than TV.

While once considered a pioneer of 24-hour TV journalism, CNN has faced criticism and accusations of bias over its political news coverage. During the 2016 election cycle, some viewers and analysts claimed CNN focused too much attention on the candidacy of Donald Trump, even to the point that it negatively impacted other candidates. Trump’s former campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, worked at CNN for months as an on-air personality while maintaining notably close ties to the candidate.

In April, Bernie Sanders supporters protested outside of CNN’s offices in Hollywood, claiming the network’s reporters ignored their candidate. In October, CNN cut ties with frequent contributor-turned-interim Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile after WikiLeaks’ archive of Hillary Clinton’s emails revealed Brazile gave Clinton advance notice of debate questions.

Moments after Donald Trump called BuzzFeed a "failing pile of garbage" Trump lased out at CNN's Jim Aacosta, telling him that "your organization is terrible. You are fake news."

Don't forget the New York Times .... or as I refer to it .... Pravda USA....

One day after totally shutting down CNN's Jim Acosta at his first press conference as President-elect, Trump continues to hammer CNN tweeting that they're "in a total meltdown with their FAKE NEWS because their ratings are tanking since election and their credibility will soon be gone!"

Of course this is likely, at least in part, a reaction to a clash that occured last night between CNN's Anderson Cooper and Kellyanne Conway in which Cooper, despite his network's clear reporting errors, said "I think you guys are feeling the heat. [Our report] was actually backed up by not only by multiple sources but other news agencies." Of course, Conway was quick to shut down Cooper's deflection:

“What heat do we feel? That you’ve got this raw information, this complete ridiculous fake news?”

“I know CNN must be feeling the heat today of having a headline yesterday at around 6:30 p.m. that said, quote, ‘Intel chiefs presented Trump with information that Russia had information to compromise him. That is just false.”

“It has not been backed up by credible news sources. Actually, it’s just fake, it’s not even news, I can’t even use ‘news’ for it.”

And Anderson Cooper flails trying to defend CNN which did publish fake news and did link to details of a fake news story on another site....

Donna Brazile Fired at CNN for Leaking Debate Questions to Clinton

One has to wonder --- considering the extreme bias that CNN has demonstrated --- if she did that without management consent....

A real expert (Prof Cohen) puts the Russian Hack narrative into perspective

Prof Cohen: The Dossier endgame is to de-legitimize Trump

"I have seen stuff like that before: It's junk. Someone is out to make a buck.

Why is this stuff in our political debate? ... What is going on?"

"I can only assume that people in the US are determine to wound Trump, to ruin any chance of detente with Russia."

This story (of accusation of Trump links to Russia) has been going on a long time.

Here's an interview from July 2016 :
Russia scholar Stephen Cohen shuts down CNN shill host who tries to link Trump to Putin

"We the American citizens deserve a debate about this accusation"

(Prof Cohen does prove that there are honest Jews in this world - thank God for that)

That is a good interview - thanks for posting it

Besides, Fox News is the most trusted? Have they interviewed the brain dead? CNN is not too bad. I watch it every now and then.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he doesn’t believe that U.S. President-elect Donald Trump met with prostitutes in Russia, calling the accusations part of a campaign to undermine the election result.

Unsubstantiated allegations made against Trump are “obvious fabrications,” Putin told reporters in the Kremlin on Tuesday. “People who order fakes of the type now circulating against the U.S. president-elect, who concoct them and use them in a political battle, are worse than prostitutes because they don’t have any moral boundaries at all,” he said.

Putin said that Trump wasn’t a politician when he visited Moscow in the past and Russian officials weren’t aware that he held any political ambitions. It’s “complete nonsense” to believe that Russian security services “chase after every American billionaire,” he said.

The Kremlin has denied that it holds any compromising material on Trump after U.S. intelligence officials informed the president-elect about unsubstantiated reports that Russia had compiled potentially damaging personal information on him.

Poll: Trump will take office as most unpopular president in at least 4 decades

Ed (10 mths ago)
Are the people behind this poll the same ones who confidently predicted based on their polling information --- that Clinton was going to easily defeat Trump in the election?

Clinton Vaults to a Double-Digit Lead,

Boosted by Broad Disapproval of Trump

Hillary Clinton has vaulted to a double-digit advantage in the inaugural ABC News 2016
election tracking poll, boosted by broad disapproval of Donald Trump on two controversial
issues: His treatment of women and his reluctance to endorse the election’s legitimacy.

One might ask how they get these things so wrong..... for an explanation we turn to Wikileaks which leaked a very damaging - and enlightening - series of emails.... on the subject.

New Podesta E-mails Expose How Democrats Rig Polls Through ‘Oversampling’

Earlier this morning we wrote about the obvious sampling bias in the latest ABC / Washington Post poll that showed a 12-point national advantage for Hillary. Like many of the recent polls from Reuters, ABC and The Washington Post, this latest poll included a 9-point sampling bias toward registered democrats.

“METHODOLOGY – This ABC News poll was conducted by landline and cellular telephone Oct. 20-22, 2016, in English and Spanish, among a random national sample of 874 likely voters. Results have a margin of sampling error of 3.5 points, including the design effect. Partisan divisions are 36-27-31 percent, Democrats – Republicans – Independents.”
Of course, while democrats may enjoy a slight registration advantage of a couple of points, it is no where near the 9 points reflected in this latest poll.

Meanwhile, we also pointed out that with huge variances in preference across demographics one can easily “rig” a poll by over indexing to one group vs. another. As a quick example, the ABC / WaPo poll found that Hillary enjoys a 79-point advantage over Trump with black voters. Therefore, even a small “oversample” of black voters of 5% could swing the overall poll by 3 full points. Moreover, the pollsters don’t provide data on the demographic mix of their polls which makes it impossible to “fact check” the bias…convenient.

Trump inauguration's 'Cabinet dinner' offers access for cash

Donors who give $100,000 and $250,000 can dine with potential agency heads.

The cost of admission for the Cabinet dinner is included in a package for either $100,000 or $250,000 to the presidential inaugural committee, while dinner with Vice President-elect Mike Pence is open to donors and corporate underwriters at the $500,000 and $1 million-level as part of multi-day itineraries, with the level of access determined by the amount of cash given, according to inauguration brochures obtained by POLITICO.

Wow and Haha

Ed (10 mths ago)
And that is something that we should be surprised by?

The chief complaint that critics make about the Clinton Foundation is that the former and perhaps future presidents engaged in a “pay-to-play” scheme, whereby donors—many of them foreign governments—would contribute money to the charity in exchange for access to Bill or Hillary Clinton, or worse, beneficial treatment from the State Department.

On Thursday, hacked emails from WikiLeaks suggest that is precisely what happened when the king of Morocco agreed to host a Clinton Global Initiative summit and give $12 million, but only if Hillary Clinton attended the May 2015 meeting.

Ed (10 mths ago)
Just one day after the bitter mainstreamers at ABC/WaPo and CNN used their "oversamples" of Democrats to rig polls showing an unprecedented unfavorable rating of the incoming President-elect, those same outlets have used those same methodologies to engineer stellar approval ratings for Obama in new polls out today...

Indiana YMCA Bans CNN Over Complaints About Constant Barrage of "Fake News"

Last Friday night, the Valparaiso Family YMCA in Indiana abruptly stopped airing CNN on its televisions in the facility's wellness and exercise area. According the the Chicago Tribune, the decision was made by the Y's CEO, Robert Wanek, after dozens of complaints were lodged from guests regarding CNN's obvious "political bias" and constant reporting of "fake news."

"It's the No. 1 problem we have in the wellness area," Koeppen told me. "Trying to please everyone, which I'm sure you can appreciate."

On Monday morning, she said YMCA officials had a meeting about the complaints. It culminated with a press release statement later that day from Robert Wanek, CEO of the Valpo Y.

"In order to eliminate perceived political bias associated with national news outlets, the Valparaiso Family YMCA will only be showing local news channels in the future," he said.

I asked Wanek to better explain exactly what happened last Friday night to prompt this change in TV viewing which, as far as I know, has been the same for many years.

"I cannot pinpoint the change origins, only to add that we get dozens of requests to change channels every day from numerous interest groups," he replied.

CNN just can't stop lying. The purveyors of #FakeNews have once again been caught, twice, peddling propaganda on Inauguration day.

First, Nancy Sinatra called them out for a bullshit tweet suggesting she wasn't happy with Trump's use of a Frank Sinatra song during the Inauguration:

Ed (10 mths ago)
Second, CNN published a bullshit article suggesting a low turnout compared to Obama, except the picture they used for Trump’s Inauguration appears to be from much earlier in the day:

And the full frame of what CNN claims is Trump's turnout:

Former CNN reporter: Network has become 'substance-free'

Jessica Yellin, former White House correspondent for CNN, said the network has become too focused on punditry and "substance-free" programming.

In an op-ed published Thursday in the New York Times, Yellin said CNN should rededicate itself to more in-depth news by being sold off and separating itself from Time Warner, which is attempting to merge with AT&T.

"[I]n the past 20 months CNN's management has let down its viewers and its journalists by sidelining the issues and real reporting in favor of pundits, prognostication and substance-free but entertaining TV 'moments,' " she wrote.

She said CNN's parent company has chased profits rather than investing in more journalism and that the 2016 campaign demonstrated that.

"Consider how far CNN departed from this model in the last election," she wrote. "Even though CNN has many able journalists prepared to report stories and talk to voters in communities across the country, its programs were dominated by pundits in Washington and New York squabbling over tweets and polls."

Yellin and CNN separated ways in late 2013 when her contract wasn't renewed, a source at CNN told the Washington Examiner.

Yellin's comments on CNN come as President Trump has escalated attacks on the network, calling the network "fake news" after it reported on allegations that the Russian government has compromising personal and financial information about him.

One could convincingly and easily argue that virtually MSM in all countries is extremely biased i.e. they are tools of propaganda.... Some more so than others....

CNN however gets the crown.
