Furniture Storage and/or Disposal

An initial quotation received a month ago provided a misleading indication of the cost of furniture storage, now with the true cost known I'm needing a different approach to dealing with my furniture whilst I'm away over the summer. It will be cheaper to throw/give my furniture away than store it. I'm not emotionally attached to any of it and am happy for it to go to good use rather than landfill...any ideas on how I can make this happen?
