Helper fired after cancer diagnosis

Jane Allas, 38, a domestic helper in HK was dismissed by here employer after being diagnosed with cervical cancer. 

 

She has filed a complaint with the HK Labour Department and is accusing the employer of unfair dismissal.

 

Terminated helpers must leave Hong Kong within two weeks; but more distressing for  Ms Allas is that she will no longer be able to receive free cancer treatment under the Hong Kong public health care system.
