My helper's lost her HK ID card in overseas on her holidays. Does she need to go and get a replacement or is it alright for her just to use her passport? I've looked at the Immigration web site and couldn't find anything regarding helpers' ID cards. Thanks.

Absolutely. A prompt visit to Immigration should be on the agenda. The law on ID cards is the same for FDHs as it is for eveyone else.

But more than reasonable as an encouragement for people to look after such crucial ID items...and a lot easier/cheaper to get replaced than if it was her passport.

HK$335 for the replacement card. Good Luck!

Hi There,

Re the loss of domestic helper's HK ID Card.
My helper lost her ID recently and upon reporting to the police she was advised to go to the Immigration office to report loss of the same.
I plan to send her to do this on Saturday morning but was wondering if anyone here can advise what documents she might need to bring along with her? I suppose the basic like passport (& copies) and her work contract would be good enough?

Appreciate your help!

Are there any charges for issuing new ID card for her?
Thanks for your reply.
