I've looked at extremely expensive (i.e. thousands of HKD) shades and mid-priced as well as dirt cheap (IKEA et al) ones here and they were either horribly ornate, mediocre and uninspiring or just very badly put together. (And it wasn't actually the cheap IKEA ones that were poor quality.) Like you, no joy. Have you thought about getting some made for you? There have been suggestions posted here before (including a shop in Sai Kung that came highly recommended, if that's anywhere near you) but the search function can be a little iffy on this site so contact details might not be found so easily.
There is also a lighting shop in Leighton Center on Leighton Road Casueway Bay, cant remember the name of the exact shop but they used to do some heavy advertising during the early nineties, so I am pretty sure they are still there. If memory serves me correctly, there is more than one shop in that area.
