I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the Gold COast in the New Territories. Is it someplace to go for just the day? HOw are the beaches? What else is there to do there? Or is it just residential? Looking to possibly go there with my husband and 2 children (ages 4 and 6) just for the day. Thanks in advance.

there's the beach, the marine club veranda to walk along, a flea market opens usually on weekends, there's also the gold coast resort hotel and a variety of eaterys to choose from.

nice place to spend the day, remember your camera, shades and have fun.

Thanks, Vanilla.

Now what is the best way to get there from TST? MTR and then a taxi or just a taxi?

Thanks

I've heard that if you book the Gold Coast Hotel through one of those local travel agencies its possible to get a really good deal? Anyone has got some names to recommend?

Waste of time.

Hotel not so good, food in the hotel is disaster and not so cheap.

The beach and the water are not clean.

Few nice (and cheap) restaurants / pubs around.

rubbish is the smaller problems.

Sewage is the bigger one.

Next to the life guard office they have a sign with the water quality. It is not so clean ...

We enjoyed the pool in the Gold Coast Hotel, which has a children's slide and a floating 'banana' (try your luck to get to the end without falling off, or be entertained watching everyone trying!). The rooms are so-so, the food was okay but pricy. They also have a play room with games for little ones (ride-on cars) up to big kids (air hockey, pool, etc), which is fun for families.
