Research on Dependent Visas and Divorce

Are you a woman who arrived in Hong Kong on a dependent visa? Did you subsequently divorce but decide to stay on and rebuild your life here? Do you have a story to share of how you survived and thrived in Asia’s Global City? If so, you may wish to participate in my PhD study.

My PhD (HKU) is on the stories of women who came to HK as dependent visa holders and stayed on after divorce. My research is interested in how these women rebuild their lives and reinvent themselves after the end of their relationships.

I seek to capture the strength, resilience and creativity of these women in creating new lives in a foreign city. All stories are kept confidential and uphold HKU's ethics (the research has been ethically approved by HKU’s HREC). All participants are reimbursed for their time. I have a legal background so I take research ethics very seriously and you can be sure your stories are in professional hands.
