Good doctor for fertility problems

ORIGINAL POST

I have been using ovulation kits for a few months with consistently negative results (i.e. the line is never stronger than the test line) so I figure that it is not good news and I am probably not ovulating. Is a gynaecologist able to do tests to confirm this/ check if anything else is wrong and if so, does anyone have any recommendations (HK Island)?

I had the same problem and have gone on to conceive successfully with the help of Dr. Philip Ho, based in Central, number 25263322. He was pretty thorough and quick to assist us. It seems (among other things) that I don't produce enough of the lutenising hormone (the one which releases the eggs and is detected by that test) and so the release of eggs is erratic. Hope this helps, Good luck.

My friend is pregnant again after help from Dereck Ho as well. You may want to chart your temps, it's also quite easy to see whether you ovulate or not, otherwise a simple test can be done at any OB. I had mine done after a miscarriage just to (re)confirm I was ovulating properly.

Hi Lojitt, I used ovulation kits as well to see when I ovulate and I supposedly never ovulated! Panic set in and for the next several years I tried about 6-7 IUI's and 2 IVF's- all failed. Heartbroken, I was willing to try anything. Then I read this book that was recommended by a few ladies on this forum called "Taking charge of your fertility" by Toni Weschler. And I realised that I ovulate really well- all the signs were there in my face but it just never showed up a single time on the ovulation kits (and I have used the ones in the us and in hk).

I got pregnant naturally within 8 cycles after those really emotionally hard years by following guidelines in the book about recognizing different types of cervical mucus through your cycle and listening to your body. I would really encourage you to do so before you go to fertility specialists. I also used Dr Ho, he is supposed to be very good and several of my friends have had success with him. Goodluck!

Hi, I have been through infertility. Have a great Chinese Doctor who can help. Western ways did not work for me. After 7 years of trying I produced a wonderful child!

I am unsure if you can reply to this post via this site, however I will try to post again with th eChines Docs no.

To the OP.. do you have regular periods ? If you are having a regular period then that is the first sign that you are ovulating regularly too

Dr Poddar from Owen Trodd in Century square comes highly recommended from me

I also endorse Philip Ho who I saw for a while before becoming pregnant. I went down the route of a combination of Western and Chinese medicine. I highly recommend Cecilia The at Vitality Center for the Chinese medicine. I have also heard good things about Troy Sing.

Ditto - Dr. Philip Ho and Troy Sing. On Bump 2 now and both babies IVF. They will be almost 20 months apart.

Depending on your age I wouldn't waste time trying naturally. If you find out you have some difficulties then go straight to IVF.

Good luck!

Sorry, I don't agree. IVF should be a last resort. Many people with big problems conceive without IVF (as I did) if they are prepared to go other routes. Ideally you want to conceive having taken the least drugs possible and as little stress on your body as possible. Both my docs rammed IVF down my throat and I refused.

HI,

I have been reading all your post. I went through 4 IUIs already and to no success. IUIs are not suppose to be painful they say...but mine was really a pain...the last IUI was almost an hour procedure and I even had bleeding during the procedure. Dr said my cervix is too deep and crooked which makes it a lot harder in doing the procedure. Right now im on IU rest fro 2 months now...and had been taking natural vitamins supplement and surprisingly had my period this October natural (My period normally is stimulated). Hwever, afte rmy period the ame pain I had when I had IUI came back...shooting pain inside me...did anyone experience this? I am now 38y/o and at the verge of giving up because of the pain I go through. It is also painful when my husband and I do it which makes it even harder doing it the natural way. Im confused and lost and what I want to do next. Altough I love kids...Im not sure if I ca still handle th eemotional and physical pain that i have been going through...

Need your advise.

Hi Hoan,

Sorry to hear what you are going through. Not sure what to advise but has your doctor found out what the issues are and advised on what to do next? Which doctor are you seeing and are you happy with him? It may be worth getting a second opinion. Hang in there!

We just moved to HK. No friends, no knowledge where to go:)

During the last 2 years I had 2 pregnancies ( naturally) and 2 misscarriages. I am now 39 y.o. and really upset with the situation. I dont know what to do as the first step to have a baby and not to wait again! a year if I am pregnant and again! if the pregnancy is OK to go through the 1st trimester. Can anybody advise what doctor to start? I read comments, there are names, but doctors have different specializations. With my problem where to go first? Thank you.

MipyMip - I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through... Its such an emotional rollercoaster. You'll always get recommendations on different doctors and (unfortunately sometimes) it can make it confusing because everything has their own experiences, different ideas of what they like, etc. At the end of the day, all of them have had success with various people (otherwise I don't think they would get recommendations). You may need to bite the bullet and just make an appointment with a couple of them to see which you feel most comfortable with, and compare their recommendations, if you have the time and $$ to do so.

I'd be happy to talk more about the process, ideas on where to start, etc or just catch up on the trials and tribulations of fertitlity issues - if you'd like to do so, PM me.

Good luck :)
