Job Description
As a Data Governance professional, your main responsibilities will include:
Data Governance Framework
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the bank's data governance framework, policies, and standards.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, GDPR, and applicable local regulations).
- Define, monitor, and improve data quality metrics (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness).
- Investigate root causes of data issues and collaborate with stakeholders for remediation.
- Work closely with business data owners and data stewards to define accountability for critical data elements.
- Maintain and manage business glossary, data dictionaries, and metadata documentation.
- Document and maintain data lineage across systems for key data elements.
- Support the implementation and use of data catalog and metadata tools.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory expectations on data management across banking/insurance domains.
- Support internal audits, regulatory reviews, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate across functions including Risk, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and IT.
- Promote data governance best practices and support data literacy initiatives.
- Work with governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation or similar).
- Identify opportunities to automate data governance and data quality processes.
A successful Data Governance professional should have:
- 4-5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles within Banking or Insurance industry.
- Exposure to working with enterprise data and regulated environments is essential.
- Solid understanding of data governance concepts (data lineage, metadata, data quality, master data management).
- Familiarity with data governance tools and data catalog platforms.
- Basic SQL or data querying skills preferred.
- Understanding of financial products, risk data, and reporting processes in banking or insurance.
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks (e.g., BCBS 239, Solvency II, IFRS 17, or similar) is advantageous.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders in a matrix environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Finance, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications such as DAMA CDMP or equivalent are a plus.
- Experience in regulatory reporting, risk data aggregation, or actuarial/finance data (for insurance profiles) is advantageous.
