Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join a global technology team responsible for building and enhancing electronic trading, execution, and risk management platforms. The role involves developing high-performance, data-driven applications that support automated trading, execution workflows, risk monitoring, and hedging activities across multiple financial markets.

Your new role
  • Design, develop, and enhance high-performance Java applications supporting electronic trading, execution, and risk management workflows.
  • Build and maintain low-latency, event-driven systems for real-time market data processing, order execution, and risk monitoring.
  • Develop scalable microservices and distributed platform components using modern Java technologies.
  • Collaborate with traders, quantitative analysts, and global development teams to deliver business-critical solutions.
  • Participate in architecture design, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
  • Optimise application performance, scalability, and reliability in a Linux-based environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including application, infrastructure, and performance-related incidents.
  • Contribute to CI/CD initiatives, automation, observability, and cloud adoption programmes.
  • Support integration with trading venues, market data providers, and internal risk management platforms.

What you'll need to succeed
  • 7+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on Java.
  • Expert knowledge of Core Java in Unix/Linux environments.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, collections, and performance-sensitive application design.
  • Experience building highly available, low-latency, distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Java performance tuning, JVM optimisation, GC analysis, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience with messaging technologies such as Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD practices and modern software engineering methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
