About the job
Our client is a Hong Kong-based asset management firm with assets under management (AUM) of over USD 7 billion. The firm offers a range of investment products and strategies across fixed income, money markets and other asset classes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily operations of money market and fixed income funds, as well as leveraged and inverse (L&I) products. Responsibilities include cash forecasting, liquidity management, margin and collateral management, FX execution oversight, securities lending, repo and reverse repo transactions, trade processing, settlement monitoring and end-to-end investment lifecycle management.
- Provide operational support for FX and derivatives activities, including FX forwards, NDFs, futures, options, interest rate swaps (IRS), credit default swaps (CDS), total return swaps (TRS) and repos.
- Conduct independent reviews and analysis of derivative valuations, financing costs, margin requirements, collateral optimization and counterparty exposures.
- Monitor FX hedging and overlay activities, including cash flow projections, hedge ratio monitoring, rollover management and the investigation of valuation and reconciliation discrepancies.
- Work closely with Portfolio Managers, Risk Management, Compliance, custodians and fund administrators to resolve complex operational and valuation matters relating to fixed income, FX and derivative instruments.
- Drive digitalization and process improvement initiatives, including workflow automation, data integration, investment data analytics, operational system enhancements and the onboarding of new counterparties and trading platforms.
- Support the launch of new funds, products and investment strategies, particularly those involving derivatives, leverage, overlay strategies and liquidity management instruments.
- Prepare daily operational reports and support fund audits, regulatory reporting, tax filings and operational due diligence reviews. Maintain comprehensive process documentation, standard operating procedures and internal controls.
Job Requirements
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in front-office support, middle-office, investment operations, treasury operations or capital markets operations, preferably within the asset management industry.
- Strong understanding of fixed income and derivative products and market conventions, including bonds, money market instruments, repos, FX products and derivatives.
- Hands-on experience with one or more of the following products is highly preferred: FX spot, forwards and swaps, futures, options, IRS, CDS, TRS or repos.
- Experience in derivative lifecycle management, collateral management, margining, trade settlements, reconciliations and investment valuation processes.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess derivative exposures, funding requirements, FX hedging effectiveness, valuation movements and investment-related operational risks.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- Experience in automation, programming and data analytics is highly desirable. Proficiency in Python, SQL, Power BI, VBA or other data visualization tools will be an advantage.
- Familiarity with Bloomberg, Aladdin, Charles River or other investment management systems is advantageous.
- Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret investment data, identify operational risks and recommend process improvements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented and intellectually curious, with the ability to work independently in a dynamic investment environment.
