Assistant Manager, Hedge Fund Operations

An established Hong Kong fund manager is adding to its operations team. It's a lean, multicultural shop with a long track record, and the kind of place that likes to see people grow into more responsibility over time. This is a hands-on seat with broad exposure to how the funds run day to day, well suited to someone a few years into hedge fund operations who wants to build on their skill set rather than stay in a narrow lane.

What the role covers

· Daily fund operations: trade entry and affirmation through the PMS, monitoring settlement, and driving breaks to resolution with prime brokers, the administrator and system vendors.

· Reconciliations across custodians and prime brokers, corporate actions, and cash, margin and collateral movements.

· NAV reconciliation, a core part of the role: weekly and monthly NAV estimates, reviewing NAV, P&L and valuations, and checking accounting entries against the fund administrator for accuracy.

· Keeping on top of fund capital activity and short-position disclosure obligations.

· Supporting the operational controls behind risk, finance and the annual fund audit.

· Helping streamline and improve workflows, plus ad-hoc projects.

What we're after

· Roughly 2 to 4 years in hedge fund operations or fund accounting, already comfortable with the core daily workflow (this is the main requirement).

· Hands-on NAV reconciliation experience: estimates, plus valuation and P&L review against the administrator.

· A degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

· Experience on a portfolio management system, strong Excel, and a working understanding of options, fixed income, swaps and NDFs.

· Fluent English; Cantonese and/or Mandarin an advantage.

· Nice to have: Python or other scripting, and any compliance exposure.
