Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director to drive the distribution and cross-border placement of private credit, leveraged finance, sponsor-backed transactions, and illiquid yield assets into Japanese institutional investors. The candidate will leverage senior investor relationships across Japan to place primary/secondary credit, provide market soundings to global origination desks, and support bespoke deal structuring.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Institutional Distribution: Lead primary and secondary placement of global loan assets, private debt, and repackaged notes to Japanese mega-banks, regional banks, trust banks, insurers, leasing companies, and asset managers.
  2. Asset Class Coverage: Distribute LBO/MBO acquisition debt, Hold-Co/PIK loans, core/digital infrastructure (utilities, data centers), project finance, fund finance (sub-lines/NAV loans), and securitized credit (ABL/ABS).
  3. Investor Engagement: Host roadshows, teach-ins, and Q&A sessions for offshore issuers and private equity sponsors.
  4. Origination & Market Intelligence: Provide live pricing indications, market soundings, and book-building feedback to global underwriting teams. Facilitate two-way secondary trading and Yen-denominated/Samurai loan structures.
  5. Portfolio & Exit Solutions: Partner with restructuring and fixed income desks to advise on legacy exposures, secondary divestitures, and stapled financing exit packages.
Qualifications & Requirements

  2. Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a top-tier institution.
  3. Technical Expertise: Strong background in debt capital structures, subordination, security packages, credit documentation, and waterfall mechanics.
  4. Investor Network: Deep, established decision-maker relationships across Japanese institutional debt investors.
  5. Languages: Native or fluent Japanese; business fluent English.
