The Violent Protests are Effective

Who says violent protests don’t work?

They do and have done so in ways unimaginable before the petrol bombs flew. Without violence, would Chinese state media have empathised with Hong Kong’s young protesters by blaming unaffordable housing as the root cause of the unrest?

State media had at first accused foreign forces and independence advocates for the uprising. But, with the violence escalating, they’re now blaming Hong Kong’s property tycoons.

Mainland Chinese mentally is violence ! We see many mainland Chinese parents beat up their children in Hong Kong, they thought it is the effective way to teach children. They are crazy. Hong Kong should set up the specified law to protect all children when they face violence mainland Chinese immigrants (parents).

The Only Thing, Historically, That's Curbed Inequality: Catastrophe

Plagues, revolutions, massive wars, collapsed states—these are what reliably reduce economic disparities.

Calls to make America great again hark back to a time when income inequality receded even as the economy boomed and the middle class expanded. Yet it is all too easy to forget just how deeply this newfound equality was rooted in the cataclysm of the world wars.

The pressures of total war became a uniquely powerful catalyst of equalizing reform, spurring unionization, extensions of voting rights, and the creation of the welfare state. During and after wartime, aggressive government intervention in the private sector and disruptions to capital holdings wiped out upper-class wealth and funneled resources to workers; even in countries that escaped physical devastation and crippling inflation, marginal tax rates surged upward.

Concentrated for the most part between 1914 and 1945, this “Great Compression” (as economists call it) of inequality took several more decades to fully run its course across the developed world until the 1970s and 1980s, when it stalled and began to go into reverse.

This equalizing was a rare outcome in modern times but by no means unique over the long run of history. Inequality has been written into the DNA of civilization ever since humans first settled down to farm the land. Throughout history, only massive, violent shocks that upended the established order proved powerful enough to flatten disparities in income and wealth.

They appeared in four different guises: mass-mobilization warfare, violent and transformative revolutions, state collapse, and catastrophic epidemics. Hundreds of millions perished in their wake, and by the time these crises had passed, the gap between rich and poor had shrunk.

What are you all moaning about, HK people have nothing to be rioting about. Just because 5 people got taken to China because they wrote or some some insults about mainland China.... so what ? They weren’t executed were they .
And the proposed extradition order has been cancelled so what are creating chaos for?
You have a great life in Hk, it’s changed fack all since 1997, your life is good, so shut the fack up and go back to work. Most of the western world think you’re being asssholes and will be the first to start weeping when the first rioter is killed, it will be down to you the protester waankers that will be responsible for the killing not the Chinese.
Get a grip on life you fools... you all need a kick up the arrse!

I could not believe Jimmy Sum who was beaten up last night by Pro-China activists or officials who paid for South Asians to do this job.

It is a shame for all South Asians in Hong Kong. They got paid then they could do the killings ? They should go back to their countries ! Hong Kong should not accept this type of South Asians !

I don't think that south Asians or Indian attackers should get involved with China government and assist pro-China activists or protesters, otherwise they will be beaten up and their businesses will be broke in Hong Kong !

They are so stupid to hurt the leader Jimmy Sum !
