After years of talk between Hill and Bolt, it sounds like we're one step closer to it actually going down.
"I’ve said it to him. I’ve texted him," Bolt said on the "Dan Patrick Show." "If you keep talking, I just might show up."
Listen, Hill is fast, but is he fastest-in-the-world fast? Probably not.
That said, he might have a better chance than some give him credit for.
Depending on the context and race, it might be a little closer than you'd think.
Traditionally, Bolt has taken a little bit of time to get up to speed, but his closing speed is second to none and has been a trademark throughout his career. That makes any potential 70-meter race exceptionally intruiging between the sprinter and the wideout.
With Hill holding a potential redline speed advantage and Bolt traditionally hitting his top speed about 60 meters into a race, it might be a bit closer than you'd think. Bolt turns 35 next week and won his last 100M gold medal in the Olympics or World Championships in 2016.
Bolt also can hit a top speed of about 27 mph, which is about five miles per hour faster than Hill's top-recorded speed in the league, at 22.8 mph. That's in pads, though.
If that's not enough, as the saying goes: Vegas knows.
If a race were to happen, oddsmakers think that Bolt would have more than a good chance at beating Hill in a race: DraftKings pegs Bolt as a -170 favorite to beat Hill, with Hill posting +150 odds himself.
Not too wide, but a big enough favorite to make you think twice.
