Consumer Protection

A friend of mine has recently subscribed to a skin care programme and signed a contract under the advice that the payments would be taken in monthly installments.

She went to use her credit card last night to which it was rejected. On checking the skin care provider has taken the full amount from her credit card (upwards of 70,000HKD).

I have not checked the contract yet (and will do this evening) but I want to know if there is any consumer protection that allows a refund of the full amount (From what I understand reading consumer law in HK this is not something that exist?) She wants to continue using the service but under the terms that were agreed during the discussion with the shop staff.

This is a serious issue for this person as the amount in question is a large sum of money in relation to general living costs (Rent etc).

We are going to talk to the shop this evening to see if they will be reasonable about this matter, but doe's anyone have any experience with this and possible guidance on how to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance.
