HK Bank accounts - can I continue to hold one if my permanent residency lapsses?

Been a permanent resident (PR) of HK since 1986 and my PR status will reach its
three-year renewal limit in about four months.

As am getting older and less inclined to take lengthy Europe - Asia flights,
am wondering if I can continue to keep my bank account open were I to
allow my PR status to lapse.
