Marriage Counseling

Can anyone recommend someone in Central?

My husband and I went to counseling in the states and were having some success with it. Not so much now - so looking to find someone good here. We had a male in the states and I think that made it easier for my husband, so if anyone can recommend someone please let me know. Also please make recommendations based on knowing they are good - not just a neighbor or friend.

thanks for your help

Join the club. I've heard of marriage counseling hotline out of Shanghai, but the numbers I've tried don't work. I dont think it exists in Guangzhou

TeachAH - I was referred to Therapy Associates Ltd. by someone on this site about a year ago. I was very happy with our therapist, my wife perhaps less so. But we're still married and much better off than before. Our therapist was a woman, but the person who gave me the referral had a male therapist. Good luck.

For marriage counseling in Shanghai, there is SIMHA, the Shanghai International Mental Health Association, a professional association of over 30 counselors from different countries serving the expatriate community. www.s-imha.org

Does counselling really work? It would drive me mad.

If you are in Shanghai give me a buzz and I'll recommend a friend of mine who does this.

We went to see Nikki Green and both I and my hubby thought she was very good, in fact I was ready to leave so I guess she saved our marriage. She is in Central see www.healthierrelationships.com or 91041667

We know of a couple that referred us to see Dr. Mark Gandolfi at St. John's in Central. He is fantastic. A really great guy who is very well-experienced.

Have a series of affairs and realise you are so much better off in your marriage!

I personally know a married man who had one of his affairs wih me, for 6 long years, and then told me many times how much his love for his wife has grown with time, and I was right there by his side waiting for him (because obviously he fooled me by lying about his love for me!) while he kept improving his marriage!!!!!

So, I guess it works, esp., if the spouse is so supportive of the affairs! They now go for romantic Valentine's Day weekend trips too! From zero passion to the height of it!

Cheaper than counselling too!

Zonked, as you probably read in many posts here, it is always not a good idea to be with a married man. What future is there in it for you? Put that experience behind you (I know it's hard, but still) and start dating single men. Once you meet a new man, the world will look much sweeter. Your advice should be removed from the message board.

Oh come on, my HK.

First, it is not an advice! It is a narration of an experience, and a heartbreaking one at that. Easier said than done as regards to moving on. I see though married people have way easier time doing it because they are so much into that other person!!

Second, which world are you living in?? There are companies and consultants offering services and encouraging married people to have affairs. Have you not read about it? An article was even posted a long time back on this very website!

So my narration falls in place with THE FACT that affairs help (most, not all) people with perking up passion in their marriage.

Demanding that my post be removed, does not remove from the truth and what is happening all around us.

Of course "the married man" is a useless creature, as I have come to realise. But moving on after he fooled me by showering so much fake love and often telling how rotten his marriage was and carrying on with me for 6 years, is gravely difficult.

To zonked: At some point you will start dating, meet a man that does not have double life, and everything will get better.

We went to Nikki Green, www.healthierrelationships.com

she saved our marriage, we tried Resourse first but they were rubbish (you get what you pay for -don't skimp on a good therapist - divorce is very expensive! : )

Also don't go unless you're willing to work hard, you will fail and waste a lot of money if you don't. - Nikki is a no-bullshit therapist - she got the best out of us - helped me realise I wasn't really invested at the beginning, the inexperienced therapist at resource probably didn't see it - Nikki did and and called me on it. I would no doubt be divorced and have crashed and burned through several other relationships by now ( like many of my friends) if it wasn't for her.
