He was the one that got away.

We always have that one person in our life who we think is indeed the one meant for us. However, in the long run, we come to realize that they are actually not. They only become part of our lives to leave us with mind and life-changing lessons. Two years ago, I have met a guy who swept me off my feet. He was very ideal and I thought he really is the one for me. I had always love the idea of him and me together. I was always clouded with the idea of him loving me until our hair turns white and vice versa. I thought that was forever but I was wrong. After a year of dating him, something bad happened. He got his ex impregnated. I was so broken when I chose to leave him but I always knew I made the right choice. I fixed myself and got on with my life. Now, I just got married with the man who really is for me. Someone whom God has sent for me.

So what is the point of your post exactly?
That you are still thinking about your ex, even though you are married?

The mystique of "the one that got away", is that when we fall in love, we have a tendency to project the qualities we would like in an ideal partner onto potential partners we don't yet know well, especially if they do "romantic" things. Then when the truth is revealed, what occurs is cognitive dissonance.

Let it go. Have a happy life with your husband, and stop wasting your time and energy thinking about your ex. Don't make excuses for him. Count yourself lucky that you didn't get any STDs or have a child by him.
