The Chinese government has decided to close its Everest base camp to tourists, due to an increasing amount of trash left behind at the site.
According to BBC, the site is officially off-limits to all visitors who don't have climbing permits—and only 300 climbing permits are issued per year. Sorry folks: It looks like you'll actually have to trek your way through this particular bucket list item.
