The HKRU is the governing body for rugby union in Hong Kong. Founded in 1952 and since 1988 an affiliate of World Rugby (formerly the International Rugby Board), the union organizes the world-renowned Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens as well as its own domestic leagues across all age groups, genders and standards of play.
The HKAAA promotes a wide range of field and track sports in the territory. It provides news and information about events in Hong Kong and overseas, standards and training courses. Our Mission To promote athletics in Hong Kong, including the development of athletes, coaches, technical officials and professional staff, so as to enhance the athletic performance as well as a healthy image, making Athletics one of the most popular sports in Hong Kong.
The Association is the official body for the administration of activities, events, competitions and related matters in Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Synchronized Swimming, Open Water Swimming, Masters and related sports (the “Swimming Sports”) in Hong Kong.
The Hong Kong Badminton Association was established in 1934 and currently has 82 affiliate associations. This club upholds the purpose of developing badminton in Hong Kong. Committed to organizing various related activities and competitions including training classes, demonstration and promotion of schools and community development plans, international competitions and local events, etc. There are currently 224 registered coaches and 244 registered referees. Last year, 270,000 people participated in the activities of this association.
The HKBWS was founded in 1957, and is now an active and fast-growing society with a membership of around 600 from Hong Kong and overseas. It publishes a quarterly bulletin and an annual Bird Report. The society runs regular field outings in Hong Kong throughout the year, led by experienced locals and all members are welcome to join. Sometimes groups from the Society visit the People's Republic of China and other places in the region on bird watching trips. Members participate in waterfowl counts throughout the year. The Society has also set up a project fund, through the funding, another hide off Mai Po boardwalk has built in 1996. The fund has also support updating work of the "Annoated Checklist in Hong Kong" and the set up of "HKBWS China Conservation Fund". The Society runs an ornithological library containing various useful publications, including trip reports of birding visits into China and other Asian destinations. Cricket has been played in Hong Kong since the middle of the 19th century. The aim of the Association is to promote the sport to an increasing number of people in Hong Kong by providing training, facilities and arranging matches for all ages, genders and groups. The Saturday League play games over 35 overs, the Sunday League over 50 overs. There are junior leagues for under 13s, under 15s and under 19s run in the mornings over the weekend from October to March. These are generally run by the players themselves with an adult manager.
The main duties of the Association are promoting different cycling activities and organizing local and international events. Training courses for public have been held included Cycling Proficiency Course for beginner, Track Training Course, Mountain Bike Training Course, Indoor Artistic Training Course and Cycle-ball Training Course. Furthermore, in order to suit the on-going development of various cycling event, the Association also conducts courses for Local Commissaire of every classes and Coach Education. In our Association, we have a number of International Commissaire and they are quite often appointed by UCI to officiate in the Olympic Games, World Championships, Asian Championships, East Asia Games, Tour de Taiwan, Tour de China, etc.
The Hong Kong Golf Association (HKGA) is supported by a number of brands and businesses. HSBC is the Exclusive Financial Partner of the HKGA and sponsor of the HSBC Hong Kong Junior Golf Programme; and Mercedes-Benz is the Exclusive Car Partner of the HKGA. The HKGA was formed in 1968 with a mission to govern, promote and grow golf in Hong Kong. Responsibilities include Hong Kong national teams; junior and elite player development; grassroots initiatives; a centralised handicapping service for 15,000+ subscribers; and the running of international and domestic golfing events in Hong Kong – including more than 30 amateur tournaments each year plus the Hong Kong Open, the city’s oldest professional sporting event. As a National Sports Association (NSA), the HKGA works closely with the golf clubs of Hong Kong (Hong Kong Golf Club, Clearwater Bay Golf and Country Club, Discovery Bay Golf Club and Shek O Country Club); the public golf courses at Kau Sai Chau; Hong Kong’s public driving ranges; and governing bodies including the Home Affairs Bureau, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong China and the Hong Kong Sports Institute.
The HKHA is a founder member of the Asian Hockey Federation which was constituted during the Asian Games in Jakarta in August 1962. The HKHA became an incorporated body under the Companies Ordinance on 10 January 2014. Before incorporation, the Association was registered under the Societies Ordinance. The men's league comprised two divisions in 1950, three in 1961, four in 1981 and five in 1985. A Premier Division was introduced in the Men's league in 2003-2004. The Men’s fifth division was split to form a new sixth division from the 2010-2011 hockey season. A Premier Division was introduced in the Women’s league in 2009-2010.
Established in 1984, the Hong Kong Triathlon Association is the sole governing body in Hong Kong for triathlon, duathlon and related multi-sport activities. We are a member of the Asian Triathlon Confederation and the International Triathlon Union, the governing bodies for the sport of triathlon in Asia and worldwide. We are affiliated to the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China. Triathlon is one of Hong Kong's twelve Focus Sports, a status which has been achieved as a result of the highly successful international performances of our triathletes in recent years. The Association enjoys generous support from the Hong Kong Sports Development Board and Leisure & Cultural Services Department, as well as various commercial sponsors.
