Job Summary:
In line with its strategic goal of building the Marketplace of the Future, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited ("HKEX" and, together with its subsidiaries, the "HKEX Group") is undertaking a comprehensive modernization of its trade and post-trade infrastructure for the derivatives market, spanning business processes and systems, covering our central trading, central counterparty clearing ("CCP") and risk management functions.

Job Duties:

Position Description

An experienced Project Manager is required to manage one of the various workstreams (Trading, Clearing or Risk Management) within the overall programme. The successful candidate will work as part of a programme management team to ensure deliverables achieve the necessary quality and within the applicable schedule and budget. The role involves close liaison with subject matter experts internal business users, as well as internal business and IT leads.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive workstream project plans, including scope, deliverables, milestones, and resources allocation
  • Lead the project team executing the project plan, monitor progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigations
  • Produce budget for the workstream and manage financials
  • Build and manage a high-performing project team, assigning tasks and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Conduct regular workstream status meetings, report progress, issues, dependencies and risks to project or programme leadership and committees as appropriate
  • Communicate gaps in project management and timely escalate as necessary
  • Engage, collaborate and maintain strong relationship between IT and business teams, and the vendor (as applicable)
Requirements:
  • University degree, preferably in IT and/or Finance related subject
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in project management / digital transformation in banking / financial institutions
  • Knowledge of trading, clearing and/or risk management function in exchange, bank and/or brokerage firm
  • Experience of working within a structured project management framework, adopting agile and/or waterfall software delivery principles
  • The successful candidate is likely to have a formal qualification (e.g. PMP, Prince II)
  • Knowledge of project management tools and techniques (e.g. MS Project, Jira, Confluence)
  • Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Effective in unifying and creating teams of people with disparate skills
  • Builds trust and demonstrates integrity in all circumstances.
Desirable skills
  • Experience of working in a clearing house, exchange, clearing brokerage or securities custodian department within a bank
  • Knowledge of derivatives products
  • Knowledge of financial markets and industry drivers.
