We are looking for a highly motivated professional to join our Equities Execution Algo R&D team serving Asia Equities markets. The team is part of the Equities Electronic Trading strats and is primarily responsible for design and develop execution algorithms and smart order router strategies, trading signal research and development, market microstructure studies and other quantitative investigations of interest to both the agency and principal execution desks.
Your Impact
As a member of the team, you will play an integral role on the trading floor. This is a dynamic, entrepreneurial team with a passion for technology and the markets, with individuals who thrive in a fast-paced changing environment. The team takes a data driven approach to decision making and you should be willing to participate in the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, support, and monitoring trading performance for systems and strategies used by our clients.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Develop and improve on trading algo logic
  • Research and development into alpha signals
  • Observe, measure and act proactively to continuously improve performance of trading strategies.
  • Generate pre and post trade analytics and other metrics to understand and quantify aspects of the business
  • Perform exploratory analyses, hypothesis testing, author content and provide consultation to traders and clients
  • Understand and help execution services desk scale by identifying and solving workflow inefficiencies
  • Improve on aspects of the execution that directly improve performance and lower the cost of innovation
  • Help on building execution services brand equity and seizing client mind share
  • Communication with traders, sales, clients and compliance officers about new feature requests, explanation of existing features etc.
Skills And Experience
  • Strong background in a computer science, engineering or equivalent field of study
  • Strong quantitative and problem solving skills with focus on the ability to formulate hypotheses, test them and distil them into practical models for use in trading algorithms, pre/post trade analysis, market-microstructure research, visualization etc.
  • Strong programming skills using modern languages Java (preferred), Python (preferred), C++, C etc.
  • Sound judgement, responsible and with solid work ethic
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present results highlighting the broader commercial and strategic impact.
  • Required to work with significant volume of data and systems.
  • Ability to work in collaborative and time-sensitive environment
  • Clear understanding of algorithms and data structures
  • Familiarity with core programming concepts and techniques (e.g. concurrency, memory management)
  • Comfortable in probability and statistics
  • Comfort with standard SDLC tools, e.g. version control systems, diff-ing tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • 4 to 8 years of professional experience developing high performance, low latency systems
  • Experience developing with Slang/Secdb is preferred
  • Experience developing distributed architecture systems and message bus protocols
  • Experience building re-usable building blocks and API's for trading strategies that can be deployed in global markets; experience building tools for performance analysis, back testing and visualization
  • Linux systems programming experience including memory management, concurrent programming infrastructure, and the networking stack
  • Over 3 years' relevant experience in Financial industry (algorithmic trading, automation of trader workflows, HFT strategies)
  • Knowledge of KDB+ is a plus
