About the Role
• Responsible for providing risk oversight, challenge and analytic insights to both the assets and liabilities of the Company's balance sheet and the investment portfolio with consideration of the liability profile of the Company, through consistent identification, measurement and application of financial risk metrics that are consistent with risk appetite and regulatory constraints.
• Work closely with key 1st line collaborators and help drive risk-based discussion about business planning and solution crafting to ensure AIAHK's financial risks are proactively identified, well-understood, and prudently led to support the strategy. The team is also actively involved in the design, implementation, and continuous development of the risk management frameworks.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Investment, Fund and Structural Risk Management
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on investment and asset-liability management related initiatives including liability driven investment solutions through the identification of potential risks and evaluation of their potential impact on the company.
  • Supervise and analyse the risks associated with the investment portfolios, asset-liability positions, and derivatives transactions, and ensure the efficiency of the mitigating actions and compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Risk to develop and efficiently implement robust risk management strategies and frameworks related to asset-liability management, investment activities and derivatives
  • Provide expert mentorship and support to senior management on risk-related matters, offering insights and actionable strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory developments, and standard processes in risk management, proactively influencing and facilitate vital adjustments to risk management policies, standards and procedures.
  • Develop and improve on risk management tools and methodologies, demonstrate comprehensive analytics and technology to improve risk assessment capabilities.
  • Provide a risk perspective on the capital strategy and deployment throughout the Group.
Engagement in other business initiatives & promote effective risk management culture
  • Support the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Provide independent advice to the business based on the nature and extent of Company's risk exposure.
  • Develop effective relationships with relevant collaborators, actively engaging to facilitate risk-related discussions and provide comprehensive, independent, and constructive risk advice.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing and professional development within the team to develop an impactful and collaborative work environment.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor to meet other requirements.
Reporting and Monitoring (as second line of defence)
  • Facilitate and coordinate relevant committees' meeting such as the Financial Risk Committee (FRC).
  • Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment reporting to regulator.
  • Facilitate regular risk reporting submission to Group Office, risk committees and escalation of key risks to management.
  • Supervise the adherence of risk tolerances, limits and thresholds.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • University graduate or equivalent with minimum 8 years proven experience
  • Qualified Actuary
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous and highly organized, with the ability to lead multiple priorities and meet tight timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Developed financial savvy and business orientation
  • Knowledge on derivatives hedging program is a plus
  • Good understanding of HK RBC and IFRS 17/ 9 will be an advantage
  • Comfortable to give constructive challenge on key initiatives and projects and provide an independent assessment
  • Ability to communicate the financial risk matters with management effectively
