POSITION DESCRIPTION PIMCO is seeking to hire an Institutional Account Manager with specific focus on the institutional distribution of our Alternative Credit , Private Real Estate and Hedge Fund products. Strategies in this area include opportunistic private corporate and real estate debt, private lending, contingent capital, specialty finance.
This position will be responsible for generating new business in PIMCO's alternative investment strategies across existing and prospective investors and consultants partnering with colleagues across the existing Institutional AM team as well as the broader GWM/Family Capital channels. The role is to be based in Singapore or Hong Kong.
This position requires a dynamic, diplomatic and collaborative professional. The successful candidate will:
- Have a proven history of selling alternatives funds and custom solutions.
- Demonstrating ability to understand and effectively explain complex, illiquid strategies
- Illustrate the ability to develop and monetize strong relationships with institutional investors such as sovereign wealth/official institutions, insurance, corporate, foundations/endowments and Superannuation organizations.
- Demonstrate the ability to earn the trust and credibility of fellow Account Managers, Portfolio Managers, Product Strategists and other PIMCO professionals and to collaborate effectively.
- Provide thought leadership in identifying new business opportunities and supporting PIMCO initiatives to develop our alternatives platform.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of institutional business development experience across alternatives including private equity style vehicles and customized strategies as well as hedge funds.
Candidates with a specific background selling:
- Corporate strategies (stressed/distressed, corporate lending, mezzanine, etc.)
- Real estate strategies (lending, equity, debt, commercial, residential)
- Structured credit strategies
- Specialty finance (i.e. aviation, consumer lending)
- Native Mandarin fluency is required as the role will be servicing Chinese clients
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS: An advanced degree such as an MBA or candidates with a CFA or CAIA
designation is preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : - The Business Development Investment Professional for alternative investments will be responsible for gathering assets and generating new business in PIMCO's alternative investment strategies.
- Develop and execute a business plan in conjunction with other Account Managers to drive growth in PIMCO's alternative investment strategies
- Effectively source new clients into PIMCO's alternative investment strategies
- In partnership with account managers and product strategists, work with institutional investors and consultants to assess investment needs and recommend suitable solutions
- Contribute to efforts to promote PIMCO alternatives though conferences, events and other branding strategies.
- Drives Alts sales across the client-facing teams in APAC.
- Collaborates closely with Marketing on developing Alts marketing efforts
- Collaborates closely with Global Alts Product Strategy Group
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This individual will:
- Demonstrate the ability to organize and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Native Mandarin / Business level fluency is required for engaging with Chinese clients.
- Possess excellent knowledge of alternative investment strategies and portfolio management.
- Appreciate the institutional sales process and familiarity with the multiple players involved.
