Role and Responsibilities - Identify global Underwriting best practices, define Prudential standards and ensure LBUs compliance with minimal deviations
- Effectively partnering with our reinsurance partners on the development of enhanced Underwriting practices and guidelines to ensure they are appropriate to market, meeting legal and regulatory requirements and Prudential internal policies
- Conduct underwriting audits / reviews at LBUs
- Drive further underwriting automation and analytics via use of technology and AI.
- Identify opportunities for the development and deployment of consistent UW tools and capabilities across LBUs, and drive the implementation of these
- Identify UW specific use cases for the application of Generative AI, and work collaboratively with LBUs and Technology to get these executed
- Understand how claims data can be used to create a more seamless, personalised underwriting experience
- Innovate with creative new underwriting approaches and leverage different (external) data sources into the underwriting processes
- Explore opportunities to support and leverage underwriting for non-medical products to offer more simplified or guarantee issue health products
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as Group Technology, Customer, Product, Risk/Compliance/Security and Finance team to help manage health business profitability and deliver excellent Customer experiences
- Attend as a member / receive updates from LBUs Underwriting Committee
- Support LBUs in assessing the required skill sets within their Underwriting organization, and closing potential capability gaps through training, knowledge sharing and recruitment
- Provide underwriting input on new business applications at product development stage and marketing campaigns
Qualifications - Bachelors degree in healthcare administration, health science or a related field
- Extensive experience in life and health underwriting
- In-depth knowledge of insurance and familiar with actuarial terminology
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analytic tools and techniques
- Ability to exercise good and effective independent judgement
- Strong influencing and communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and able to achieve collaborative success with other functional areas
