Asia Compliance Team has a key role to play to enable Sun Life Asia's growth ambition and to ensure meet the purpose of being trusted partners for the mitigation of compliance risks by providing advice, oversight and challenge in support of helping Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives.

Reporting to Chief Compliance Officer, Asia, this role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Asia Conduct Risk Program within the Compliance function. The AVP, Head of Conduct Risk Asia is an integral contributor to ensure that Sun Life Asia has fulsome and integrated conduct risk management capabilities to support the identification, measurement, management, monitoring, and reporting of conduct risk.

In this second line of defence role, you will work closely with compliance partners, Legal, Risk, Human Resources and the Business Unit leaders to develop and implement a Conduct Risk Framework to proactively identify, measure, monitor and report on conduct risk and fair customer outcomes.

• Strong understanding of conduct and fraud risk management, and experience developing global reporting and conduct analytic tool to proactive detect and monitor the risks.

• Strong data knowledge and aggregation capabilities in support of management reporting.

• Understanding of the role of an Integrated Risk Management Tool in facilitating a risk program; experience with RSA Archer is an asset.

• Understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management principles as they apply to financial services.

• Insurance Compliance experience. Sound knowledge of insurance market conduct and fraud issues in Asian markets.

• Self-motivation and proactive nature, with strong problem-solving abilities to effectively prioritize in a diverse and fast paced environment.

• Ability to anticipate and spot potential conduct and fraud issues through trends and analyses.

• Organizational savvy and ability to navigate and lead cross-functionally within a complex and matrixed organization.

Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)
  • University degree and 10+ years of progressive experience within the financial services sector in Compliance, Risk or other oversight function.

    • Experience working in an OSFI-regulated environment, with alignment to a three lines of defence model.
    Excellent coach and mentor with proven success at leading and developing a high performing team and driving transformation.

  • Develop, implement, embed, and maintain overall risk governance framework and standards to report on Conduct risk and Fraud risk. Generate conduct and fraud risk reporting to various senior leaders , and risk and Board committees.
  • Understand and lead resolutions to the various conduct and fraud risk challenges in Asia and generate conduct and fraud risk reporting to various senior leaders, and risk and Board committees.
  • Lead the execution of a comprehensive Asia-wide review of the risk with on trend analysis. Oversee all conduct and fraud risk issues and track remediation actions across all Asia markets.
  • Lead the drafting of conduct and fraud risk-related policies and associated guidelines and standards, and support Business Units (BU) in their conduct risk governance practices.
  • Partner with various BUs and oversight functions to implement a conduct and fraud risk oversight program that helps to standardize our approach to and reporting on conduct and fraud risk across Asia with strong alignment with the Global program.
  • Maintain a high-performing, inclusive working environment, through effective hiring, development, coaching, and overall leadership; demonstrate BOLDER behaviours at all times.
  • Act as the Asia reporting manager to Chief Compliance Officer, VN and Chief Compliance Officer for Indonesia
