We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Social Sustainability to join our Sustainability team. You will be responsible for shaping and driving our company's holistic social impact strategy, encompassing a wide range of initiatives that align with our overall sustainability strategy and goals - across insurance products and services, investments, and business operations. As a core member of the sustainability team, you will work closely with key stakeholders across the group to co-create meaningful social impact strategies, targets and outcomes to drive positive and meaningful change across the business.

Role Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic development

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive social impact strategy that aligns with the company's broader sustainability and business goals.

• Define and lead the company's Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy and program delivery.

• Drive our commercial social sustainability pillar by spearheading new business and client partnership opportunities to maximise our social impact.

• Work closely with Prudence Foundation to ensure synergy between our community investment efforts and our broader social strategy.

• Complement our expertise in climate-focused sustainability and represent the evolution of ESG/Sustainability factors as discrete but complementary areas of focus important to our stakeholders across our footprint markets.

• Identify social key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor ongoing progress against the sustainability strategy.

• Develop a roadmap towards social impact and social value measurement in line with the wider evolution of the business and sustainability strategy framework.

Cross-business collaboration

• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the business, facilitating their effective contribution towards critical social sustainability initiatives and strategic developments.

• Identify clear methods and ways of working to ensure cross-functional collaborations are effective and meaningful and consistent with the PruWay..

• Manage ongoing coordination with key functions across group [eg Risk, Compliance and Security (RCS), Product, Customer], providing them with support on the implementation of our social strategy, identifying potential risks, and developing metrics for measuring and reporting on our social impact progress.

• Develop training materials for the organization and increase internal capabilities around material social sustainability topics eg inclusive offerings.

Operational Excellence

• Ensure regulatory and standard compliance, anticipate future trends and work across the Group to create awareness and address implications, including the adaptation and creation of internal social policies.

• Champion the continuous evolution and refinement of social sustainability/impact measurement and reporting practices, ensuring alignment with best-practice standards and fostering transparency and accountability.

• Represent the company on key social sustainability initiatives and partnerships, fostering internal and external engagement opportunities and raising the company's profile as a leader in social responsibility.

• Ensure periodic reporting of social sustainability metrics/updates to the Group Executive Committee and Group Sustainability Committee.

• Ensure recommendations and assessments to be presented for management consideration are duly prepared and reflect the objectives of the Group sustainability strategy.

Demonstrating progress:

• Responsible for driving the identification, evaluation, and implementation of social impact initiatives across products and services, investments, and business operations, in collaboration with key functions across the group.

• Responsible for quality and progress tracking of our social KPIs, monitoring results and impact, and realigning purpose and functions as necessary.

• Ensure monthly and/or quarterly reporting of social metrics and updates to all relevant Committees.

• Ensure recommendations and assessments to be presented for management consideration are duly prepared and reflect the objectives of the Sustainability Group strategy.

• Develop a trusted network of standard setters, framework providers, experts in Social sustainability and stay on top of future trends and developments.

• Contribute to external consultations on Social Sustainability as needed.

Experience and competencies:

• Strong business or commercial approach to sustainability. Experience and/or knowledge of insurance or micro-insurance sector will be an added advantage.

• Extensive experience in driving social impact initiatives, with a proven track record of success in the financial services industry or a similar corporate sector.

• Deep understanding of the current social impact landscape, impact measurement frameworks and emerging trends shaping the industry, including topics such as diversity, equity and inclusion, inclusive life and health products and services, micro-insurance, community engagement, and social-impact themed investments.

• Experience operating with companies and stakeholders within emerging markets (particularly Asia and Africa), with a clear understanding of the variety of unique and nuanced challenges faced by these markets.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Strong leadership and strategic thinking abilities to navigate complex social impact challenges and opportunities.

• Proactive and results-oriented approach to driving social impact transformation within the organisation.
