Job Description What is the opportunity? As the Senior Manager, Group Risk Management ("GRM"), Asia, you will play a critical role in the Bank's GRM model. You will be responsible for (1) Governance & oversight risk management of the Bank's business and risk activities in Hong Kong, (2) Risk oversight of Wealth Management Asia ("WMA") business in the Hong Kong (as focus scope) & Singapore, and (3) Enterprise/ Governance/ Risk Oversight mandate for the Bank's business & risk activities across Asia region.
What will you do? - Supports Head of GRM, HK and in turn CRO Asia as a crucial GRM member (back up Point of Contact) for various HK business segments and entities in the country, to face off/working with relevant business units & functional stakeholders including internal/external auditors and where relevant the local regulator together with the Head of GRM, HK. Responsible to ensure key risks are identified, assessed & duly managed (with appropriate escalation if required) so all businesses continue to run & operate within approved risk appetite and business & risk activities are conducted in full compliance with local & global regulations where applicable.
- Appointed designate for various business and risk governance meetings in the absence of Head of GRM, HK, where appropriate & necessary.
- Responsible for credit adjudication in HK and SG Branches for transactions beyond the delegation to the Credit team, in accordance with approval authorities delegated by CRO Asia.
- As part of broader line 2 risk oversight responsibility, to ensure the business' delegated lending authority via sampling tests and review is performed on a quarterly basis.
- A GRM Relationship Manager for HK business and relevant functional stakeholders including internal/external auditors and where relevant the local regulator.
- Supports Head of GRM, HK and Senior Director - GRM for WM Asia, thus in turn the CRO Asia, in governance & oversight mandate for Asia business, ensuring consistency across countries and legal entities in support of the GRM Asia model.
- Enterprise/Governance/Risk Oversight mandate for the Bank's business & risk activities across Asia region as they arise.
- Responsible for risk data for all businesses & entities in HK and in that capacity, work with Head of GRM HK and ERM MY team in relevant production of risk reporting & presentation materials for various regional Committees and Forums as well as CRO Asia and senior risk executives in Europe & Toronto.
- As part of GRM risk accountability & responsibility to ensure Business defines and operate within approved Risk Appetite Statement (metrics), to participate and perform oversight of the HK Branch and WM Asia defined Risk Appetite Statements via yearly refresh cycles and quarterly RAS updates at governing governance forums.
- As one of the appointed GRM member for Enterprise, Regional APAC and also local policies, projects and initiatives to ensure proper & effective GRM risk assessment & oversight of key relevant risks as well as deliver with defined timelines for all project/initiative.
- Responsible for culture & conduct risk enhancement & management for Asia (including supporting relevant GRM risk trainings for the various businesses including 1st line controls as well as tone from the top risk behavior and communication).
What do you need to succeed? Must-have - Degree holder and minimum 15 years of solid working experience & sound knowledge in:
- Strong understanding of Hong Kong Banking regulatory regime & well versed with Hong Kong regulations (across relevant banking regulatory & supervisory bodies such as HKMA, SFC, etc).
- In-depth understanding of WM business & products, related risk control requirements across its platform and businesses across operational risk, cyber risk, Environmental/Climate/ESG risk, credit risk, market risk, product risk, liquidity risk & reputational risk, etc.
- Mobility to travel and ability to deliver under pressure.
- Excellent with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
- Outstanding command of written and spoken English as well as Mandarin
- A mature, independent risk professional and team player with attention to details and superb problem solving and multi-tasking abilities.
- Outstanding communication & presentation skills.
Nice-to-have - Certified ECF qualification is preferred
