Working within the finance department within PHKL, this role focuses on financial reporting (IFRS reporting and regulatory reporting) and tax filings etc.
Job Descriptions:
The role has the following areas of responsibility:
- Oversee PGHK financial reporting team with an effective reporting framework. Provide timely & accurate reports and analysis to internal stakeholders (e.g., Group and local senior management, Board of Directors) in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, internal governance and Group policies.
- Oversee tax compliance with regulations and group governance and maintain tax efficiency of the business.
- Support PHKL financial reporting team on IFRS related BAU reporting work and/or initiatives.
- Responsible for I17 month-end closing in ETL.
- Monitoring and control on the quality and readiness of financial data provided from various parties/systems and the reconciliation performed by subordinates.
- Closely coordinate with stakeholders for month-end closing and quarterly group reporting to meet the timeline.
- Identify and execute the change in ETL for supporting the new business initiatives and reporting needs.
- Coordinate and review the SOX/audit requirements and control evidence.
- Provide ad-hoc data extraction and analysis upon management requests.
- Execute and review UAT result on behalf of financial reporting team.
Job Requirements:
- CPA or similar designation and at least 10 years of post-qualification work experience, initially trained in a big four and subsequently worked within a life insurer.
- Strong stakeholder management and execute delivery in a structured and transparent manner.
- Accounting and reporting expert, which includes expertise on reporting (e.g., understanding what it takes to issue local and group financial statements, IFRS 17, HKRBC etc.), tax filing and process and controls.
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build and lead cross functional teams to deliver within tight timelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which includes the ability to communicate and bring across key messages to individuals with different cultural and educational backgrounds (i.e., actuaries, accountants, data experts and system and tech experts). At the same time translate key messages in a concise way and in layman terminology to key stakeholders which are not close to the detail (e.g., able to summarize complex topics on one-pagers, balancing text and visuals).
- Proficient in SQL is a must, knowledge in VBA or Python is a plus.
- Bilingual (i.e., fluent in English and Cantonese).
