Our Systematic Trading arm is looking for a VP of Engineering to lead and grow the current team.

Most of your team members are in Taiwan, so you need to be comfortable traveling to Taiwan frequently. Ideally, you'd relocate to Taiwan and speak Mandarin.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and responsibility for all aspects of technology systems and infrastructure across the systematic team.
  • Architect the technology team and systems to scale with the goals of the business over the short and long-term.
  • Implement a process-driven framework for engineers to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple projects with varying complexities and timelines.
  • Build and maintain an environment where the companys technology team culture flourishes - encouraging open technical dialog between engineers, enhancing business partnerships, continuously improving technical systems, and adopting modern-day technology best practices.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience at a top-tier Quant Trading firm as a hands-on engineer encompassing everything from design to development and monitoring of historical and real-time systems which are high-availability and fault tolerant.
  • In addition to the above, at least 5 years of experience as a technology team leader at a top-tier technology or trading firm, building and leading talented technical teams of at least 5-10 people.
  • Bilingual Mandarin/English fluency is preferred given the location of the team (Taipei).
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences along with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Proven success in establishing and achieving key technology milestones, short and long term priorities and ability to shift direction in a fast paced environment.
  • Preference for Taiwan-based or APAC-based candidates, relocation/remote work option available.
  • Bachelor degree in computer systems engineering from a recognized university (Master preferred).

Interview Process

  • 1st round: Technical and architectural by Chief of Staff.
  • 2nd round: Experience and cultural fit by our Co-Founder.
  • 3rd round: Technical by Infrastructure Lead.
  • 4th round: (Optional) We may ask you to do an assessment / assignment.
  • 5th round: Cultural and fit by our CIO.

Throughout the process, you'll be assessed for cultural fit through our company values:

  1. Drive - We believe the best team members are passionate about what they do, and that propels them to greater heights in their career. It drives them to be part of the best teams where they are exposed to the best ideas.
  2. Ownership - We aim to give ownership interest to as many people in the firm as possible, but in return, we expect everyone to act like owners. "Not my responsibility" is a repugnant phrase to us.
  3. Judgement - We look for team members who consistently look at the big picture and spend their time on the activities that most drive PnL. They are pragmatic with their time; they don't stick to their narrow domain if it doesn't move the needle.
  4. Openness - We want a culture where we proactively share information with one another and challenge each other with constructive debate to reach the truth.
  5. Competence - We value people with high intellectual horsepower. They have already become an expert in one or more domains and learn extremely quickly when in unfamiliar territory.
