Application Support Engineer
Application Support Engineer responsible for maintaining the firms trading environment. The role covers both L1/L2/L3 Trading Application Support, including Server-side infrastructure for trade execution, as well as trading applications used by Portfolio Managers. Candidates will demonstrate a balance of technical and communication skills, working within a highly dynamic organization covering all aspects of the technology stack.
Millennium's systems are highly multi-process, in some cases with hundreds of instances needed to support the different flows, high volumes, and low latencies our traders and portfolio managers require. As such, our support teams need to demonstrate flexibility to deep-dive on technical issues whilst also communicating to traders, portfolio managers in an effective manner.
The work will include business support, production support, trade issue resolution, project work, trade analysis, user onboarding, user training.
Principal Responsibilities - Change management and implementation of the firm's internal systems complied global support standard and procedures
- Coordinate with developers for software release, and with infrastructure teams to prepare and set up server and environment for trading
- Setup connectivity and arrange post validation with brokers and external vendor for any activity / event to ensure stability
- Collaborate with other technical support engineers who may need assistance working on an issue; utilize his/her area of expertise to help others in order to most quickly facilitate solutions for the customer.
- Coordinate with vendors, internal application owners, infrastructure owners, and tech support to ensure trading platforms are correctly installed, configured, and tested.
Qualifications/Skills Required - 5+ years related experience.
- Strong experience in deployment principles and tools.
- Good understanding of version control principles and systems.
- Above average proficiency in UNIX and Shell scripting (bash, ksh, tcsh)
- Scripting / programming (Python, Perl, C, Java) and database skills (mysql/mongodb) is a strong plus.
- Able to work in a fast-paced global team, both as individual contributor and project lead
- Strong analytics skills, and attention to details.
- Quick learner with a demonstrated strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them.
- Able to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment; Good sense of urgency.
- Comfortable navigating issues through the SDLC process and across multiple application environments.
- Experience with various continuous integration, development and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Git, Jenkins, Ansible etc.) and enterprise monitoring and alerting tools (i.e. Nagios, ITRS Geneos, Datadog, etc) also a plus.
- Knowledge in middleware and messaging concepts (Tibco, Solace, EMS) is a plus.
