Global Finance is integral to HSBCs purpose and strategy, playing a valued role in managing costs and deploying capital in the most effective way. Our global team of finance professionals partner with the business to provide trusted insights and forward looking analysis; accuracy; efficiency and control to frame and influence business decisions.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Actuarial Manager.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Support change life cycle activities from early change planning and feasibility analysis; through to designing and delivering change interventions (e.g. communications, training, support, organisational alignment, governance and control); and tracking and taking actions on change readiness, adoption, and feedback
  • Act as a subject matter expert for ongoing development of IFRS17 technical methodologies and the implementation of these across all markets (both actuarial and accounting aspects) in compliance to Group Policy to assess the impact on the financial results and Global Infrastructure
  • Define requirements, management processes, and design detailed solutions and structures based on business requirements
  • Work closely with local insurance entities to optimise their solution design and reporting process, act as a subject matter expert to support markets
  • Work closely with the Global development team, in developing and maintaining the Global IFRS17 solution (including Global CSM Engine and Visualisation, Planning and Forecasting tool)
  • Support the coordination of user acceptance testing of the Global IFRS17 solution
  • Support the review and challenge of the IFRS 17 reporting results and control evidences, including participation in governance forums to provide Group advice/ challenges to financial analysis and management actions
  • Support the review and challenge of the reasonableness of actuarial approach, methodology, assumptions, simplifications and any actuarial judgments applied in IFRS17 reporting, to ensure compliance with the underlying IFRS 17 policies, controls and risk framework including participation in basis review committees
  • Support the consolidation of IFRS 17 reporting results from local entities and preparation of Group management information packs
Requirements
  • Experienced, qualified actuary with recognised professional body (e.g. IFoA, SOA)
  • 6+ years experience, with a proven track record within life insurance companies or consultancy firms
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS17 and/or financial reporting is essential
  • Strong experience of delivering change into different audiences and managing implementation in insurance company
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills, with expertise in presenting and producing high quality reports at governance forums
  • Experience in prophet modelling or similar actuarial software will be an advantage
