IT Application Support Lead - FX (Contract)

The Consultant will be responsible for the frontline support in Asia of the FX IT trade booking, order booking, and risk systems.

Salary: HK$60k - HK$80k

  • Responsible for the frontline support in Asia of the FX IT trade booking, order booking, and risk systems:
     
  1. Spot FX trading – Sigma trade management, Barracuda order management, Deal Hub booking, and associated smaller functions
  2. FX Options and Carbon trading – Orchestrade trade management, Asgard risk management (including GMD PS & THOR), and associated smaller functions
  3. FX Linear (non-spot) and APAC EM trading (jointly manasging the functional work of the Core OT team) – Orchestrade trade management, Barracuda order management, IRIS risk management, and associated smaller functions
     
  • Lead the team of frontline HK FX Risk IT and functionally work with the lead the of team of HK Core OT personnel providing support for the FX trading business in Asia, as part of 24-hour support organization along with colleagues in London and New York supporting the FX trading business globally
  • As capacity allows, provide business analysis and project delivery management for regional projects (subject to production support taking priority)
  • Ensure a very responsive service to trading, sales, middle office, risk management, back office and all other system users with prompt communication, rapid resolution, and appropriate follow-up for all issues

Main Responsibilities

  • Management: Develop good relations with the FX trading business (FO, MO/Risk, BO), follow relationship with third parties, manage / assist members of team
  • Support: ensure the HK team provides high-quality support coverage, providing every day user support and prompt resolution of, and regular communication about, major incidents when required
  • Co-ordinate with other teams worldwide, especially the FX Risk IT support teams in London and New York, with daily handover calls, to ensure a seamless support on production incidents and issues
  • Co-ordinate with the Hong Kong Core Orchestrade Team lead jointly to manage the shared pool of Orchestrade resources supporting both FX and other traders in APAC.
  • Ensure pro-active monitoring of systems to ensure problems are detected promptly and enforce change management procedures to ensure production stability while facilitating rapid system advances
  • As capacity allows, manage and analyze project deliveries of particular importance to Asia trading
  • Participate to DRP / BCP exercises, regulatory/compliance exercises, and follow up related tasks.
  • Provide and contribute to periodical local and global reporting (ITSC, OpCo, and project tracking monthly reports)
  • Provide system and process documentation and training to users.  Ensure IT team is cross-trained with sufficient expertise to avoid key-person risks.

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience on support or projects on trading applications.
  • Ability to juggle multiple requests at the same time from demanding users.
  • Ability to articulate technical concepts succinctly to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience of providing informal people and team leadership in specific production situations and/or for specific small-project deliveries
  • Proficiency in FX products (Spot, Forwards, Swaps, NDFs, vanilla and exotic FX options)
  • Proficiency with PnL and Risk Management concepts including VaR and sensitivities.
  • English required.

    Technical experience:
  • Development experience desirable, particularly in C# and/or Java
  • Support of systems running on Windows Server and on UNIX environment;
  • Support of SQL database based systems. Good SQL query skills; understanding of basic Query Optimisation.
  • Experience supporting large batch systems (typically Control M)
  • Familiarity with monitoring systems like ITRS Geneos and/or ELISA

    Product experience:
  • FX Product proficiency with Spot; Swaps; NDFs; Forwards; and FX options
  • Proficiency with VaR; Stressed VaR and similar Risk Management concepts
  • Proficiency with P&L and sensitivity calculation on FX Options Products
  • Proficiency with the Life cycle of the typical FX Products
