About the Role

Responsible for providing comprehensive risk oversight, challenge and analytical insights for both the assets and liabilities on the Company's balance sheet and the investment portfolio, with consideration of the Company's liability profile (i.e. Liability Driven Investment). This involves consistently identifying, measuring and applying financial risk metrics that align with the company's risk appetite and regulatory constraints.
Collaborate closely with key 1st line stakeholders to drive risk-based discussions around business planning and solution development. This ensures that financial risks are proactively identified, well-understood, optimized and managed within the Company's risk appetite, thereby supporting the Company's strategy. The team is also actively involved in the design, implementation, and continuous development of the risk management frameworks, ensuring they remain robust and effective.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Investment, Fund and Structural Risk Management (70%)
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on investment and asset-liability management related initiatives including LDI solutions through the identification of potential risks and evaluation of their potential impact on the company.
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and support on LDI related matters to senior management, offering insights and actionable strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and analyse the risks associated with the company's investment portfolios, asset-liability positions, and derivatives transactions, and ensure the effectiveness of the risk mitigating actions and compliance with internal policies, standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with Group Risk to develop and smoothly implement robust risk management strategies and frameworks related to asset-liability management, investment activities and derivatives, aligned with the company's risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices in risk management, proactively influencing and facilitating necessary adjustments to risk management policies, standards and procedures.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of risk management tools and methodologies, leveraging advanced analytics and technology to improve risk assessment capabilities.
  • Provide a risk perspective on the capital strategy and deployment throughout the Group.
Engagement in other business initiatives & promote effective risk management culture (20%)
  • Support the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Provide independent advice to the business based on the nature and extent of company's risk exposure.
  • Foster effective relationships with relevant stakeholders, actively engaging with the stakeholders to facilitate risk-related discussions and provide holistic, independent, and constructive risk advice.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing and professional development within the team to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
  • Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor to meet other requirements.
Reporting and Monitoring (as second line of defence) (10%)
  • Facilitate and organize relevant committees' meeting such as the Financial Risk Committee.
  • Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment reporting to regulator.
  • Facilitate regular risk reporting submission to Group Office, risk committees and escalation of key risks to management.
  • Monitor adherence of risk tolerances, limits and thresholds.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• University graduate with minimum 12 years relevant experience
• CFA and/or CAIA
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Developed financial acumen and business orientation
• Hands on derivative and LDI experience is a plus
• Comfortable to give constructive challenge on key initiatives and projects and provide an independent assessment
• Able to communicate financial risk matters with senior management effectively
