Job Summary Barings' Client Portfolio Managers work in close partnership and coordination with investment teams, sales teams and other stakeholders within the organization as subject matter experts, focusing on business development, client servicing and product development for certain investment strategies.
This is a new position created to support the on-going growth and APAC client penetration across Barings' fixed income strategies. The role will be located in Hong Kong and will support all Barings global public fixed income strategies (investment grade, high yield, loans, emerging market debt and structured credit), which collectively represent around half of the firm's total assets under management (AuM). The successful candidate will work closely with team members, sales teams and the investment team to support existing clients, and to help drive future growth in Barings' public fixed income strategies.
Primary Responsibilities - Become a subject matter expert on Barings' public fixed income product offerings as well as on global fixed income markets; serve as a key business development liaison for Barings' public fixed income offerings in the APAC region
- Develop, maintain and prepare marketing and servicing materials for the team. This will include materials to highlight competitive advantages of Barings' offerings and key trends across fixed income markets, pitch books, marketing collateral as well as scheduled and ad-hoc updates on financial markets and specific aspects of an investment strategy
- Build and foster a network of successful working relationships across internal stakeholders, primarily within the sales and investment teams; communicate various aspects of investment strategies and financial markets internally and externally with the goal of commercializing the business
- Collaborate with the various teams internally to review and provide strategy specific responses to RFPs/DDQs and respond in a timely manner to client/prospect requests
- Stay abreast of market trends, APAC regulatory/product developments and competitor intelligence
Qualifications - University degree; CFA qualification would be a plus
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, ideally in either an investment management/advisory, or investment specialist/product strategist/client portfolio manager role
- A passion for financial markets, macroeconomics, and proficiency in global fixed income/credit markets specifically
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin), including the ability to effectively communicate complex topics in a simple manner
- Strong organizational, facilitation and collaboration skills
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive tasks independently and with strong attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel, including experience using MS Office software to produce high quality presentations
- Ability and willingness to travel as required
