Our client, a global investment bank, is actively seeking a Senior UNIX Engineer to join their Electronic Trading infrastructure team. This is a hands-on and technical role suitable for strong engineers with in-depth knowledge and experience - ideally coming from Banking / FSI (but not a must have).

The role:
- Oversee and coordinate UNIX and Red Hat infrastructure projects across APAC data centers and colocation facilities, including:
- Ensure optimal server allocation and readiness.
- Customize and upgrade systems for enhanced performance.
- Develop and execute strategies to enhance system reliability.
- Achieve reduced latency, leading to improved fill ratios for traders.
- Minimize the frequency and severity of system-related incidents.
- Automate UNIX patching to align with the banks IT Security Standards.
What you offer:
- Strong understanding of Red Hat Linux / UNIX operating systems.
- Proficient with system patching tools, specifically RedHat Satellite.
- Extensive knowledge of IBM & HP Blade systems, including p-Series, i-Series, and x-Series architectures.
- Ability to write scripts (e.g. shell, Perl, Python).
- Knowledge of scripting, automation and diagnostic software & tools.
- Understanding of equity and high-frequency trading (HFT) environments.
- Provide production support for critical Linux server platforms in a fast-paced environment.
- Deliver direct user support, addressing system-related requests on trading floors.
- Fine-tune and monitor x86 hardware and Linux performance.
- Conduct in-depth troubleshooting, problem management, and root cause analysis for RHEL systems.
- Manage OS/server provisioning, standardization, and policy enforcement on a regional basis.
