The Role
VP, Senior Legal Counsel, Legal & Compliance
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in handling legal matters for Investment Banking Department (with a focus on capital markets) and the Sales, Trading and Research Department (with a focus on wealth management);
- Prepare and review legal contracts and documents for the company, with particular emphasis on the review and negotiation of various legal documentation that the business will enter into with its clients;
- Provide legal advice on issues relating to the business of the company;
- Coordinate the work with outside legal counsel on matters including but not limited to handling litigation/arbitration for/against the company;
- Review other legal contracts entered by BOCI and provide advice to other units as required from time to time; and
- Such other duties as shall from time to time to be directed by the superiors.
Skills & Experience
- A qualified lawyer with a degree in related discipline;
- A minimum of 6-7 years of relevant legal experience with 3-4 years of post-qualified experience in the investment banking/wealth management industry; company grading dependent on years of experience;
- Good advisory and communication skills;
- Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, able to communicate in Mandarin preferred.
