Japan Equities Analyst - An International boutique Hedge Fund in Hong Kong

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of investment opportunities in the Japanese equity market, providing strategic recommendations.
• Build and update company financial models, driving fundamental valuation signals based on long-term and short-term valuation methodologies.
• Collaborate closely with the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Portfolio Managers (PMs) to translate research insights into investment decisions.
• Be fully integrated into the investment process and receive part of the performance compensation based on relevant research signals and investment outcomes.
• Work closely with colleagues covering relevant sectors to share market insights.
• Proactively communicate with the CIO, PMs, and other team members, clearly articulating investment ideas and judgments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in an analytical/quantitative role on the buy-side or in a long/short hedge fund. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess investment judgments, decision-making capabilities, intellectual curiosity, integrity, teamwork, and proactive communication.
• Proactive in seeking new investment ideas while thoroughly understanding, valuing, and maintaining coverage on existing investments.
• Highly motivated individuals willing to work hard to build their knowledge base, performance track record, and credibility within the team.
• Proficient in Japanese and fluent in English.
