What is the opportunity?

Working as part of the APAC Compliance team, the Manager, Compliance Monitoring & Testing (M&T) (6-month maternity cover, based in Hong Kong or Singapore) supports local Regulatory Compliance teams across the region in fulfilling their responsibilities defined under the RBC Regulatory Compliance Management Framework.

What will you do?

You will support the Associate Director Compliance Monitoring & Testing and APAC Compliance team by carrying out key responsibilities in relation to the following:
  • Developing and driving the continual enhancement of the "M&T" approach and the annual M&T program (including developing/improving the approach to continuous business monitoring and, where relevant, delivering consistency/change through Enterprise Monitoring and Testing working groups);
  • Leading and delivering timely and accurate compliance M&T reviews that opine on the adequacy of 1st line systems, controls and processes to manage Regulatory and Conduct risk (across APAC);
  • Working with Compliance and business colleagues to track and advise (where appropriate) on the appropriateness of actions plans to resolve issues identified during M&T reviews;
  • Delivering timely responses to internal audit and external regulatory enquiries as required; and
  • Leading ad-hoc projects and activities as required (methodology improvements; stakeholder management; committee reporting).

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • Degree or equivalent is required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant Compliance and /or Risk Management experience
  • Effective communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Compliance risk management focused in outlook
  • Ability and willingness to accept accountability and ownership, demonstrate initiative, work without direct supervision and support effective and efficient cross-unit co-operation

Nice-to-have
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in an audit and/or monitoring/testing role
  • Wealth Management business and product knowledge
  • Experience using SMARTS, Actimize, Bloomberg and/or similar types of surveillance systems
  • Certified Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) qualification is preferred
