Department Profile The Institutional Securities Group (ISG) Central Risk Team (CRT) is a 1LoD team created to improve the management of non-financial risk across ISG Business Units, with the aim of proactively identifying emerging risks and dynamically responding to operational risk issues as they arise. The OPERA (Operational Risk & Resilience; E-Trading; Regulatory & Audit) team sits within CRT and is responsible for managing a broad number of initiatives across ISG, spanning a number of topics including: the Non-Financial Risk Framework; Operational Resilience; Third Party; E-Trading; Product Risk; Regulatory Enquiries and Exams; Internal Audit and Compliance Testing reviews.
Position Description: The position available is a Vice President position within the CRT OPERA team. This part of the team is responsible for driving cross-OPERA initiatives within the Asia region. The individual will be required to lead a number of regional initiatives across the OPERA Risk Pillars (Operational Risk & Resilience, E-Trading, Regulatory and Audit) to support the embedding of global frameworks, including for Lessons Learned, Read Across and the review of emerging risks. The individual will be required to work with global/ regional counterparts and a number of stakeholders from across the three lines of defence.
Responsibilities Include: - Execution of Asia actions of broader Global Framework including Lessons Learned; Read Across; Emerging Risks; Regulatory and Remediation Engagement Framework
- Support across key Asia regulatory exams and requests as well as Asia regulatory change programs
- Oversight and facilitation of Asia ISG Audit and Compliance Testing reviews in 2025 plan based on the OPERA ownership and execution principles
- Support of broader Asia CRT strategic initiatives which may span across CRT Risk Stripes, as defined by the Asia Head of CRT
- Regional support of Monthly BCU Op Risk Forum where relevant to communicate relevant NFR Framework change across ISG Asia BCU teams
- Support RCSA taxonomy updates in Asia
- Tracking and trending of Asia incidents in Open Pages
Experience / Skills Required: - 7+ years of experience in the financial services industry
- Strong understanding of Non-Financial Risk, and proven ability of working across one or multiple non-financial risk types, ideally within a 1LoD team
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and guidelines, risk management, risk and controls, with proven experience of working with Asian regulators including the HKMA as well as local regulators across the Asia region
- Experience of leading the response to regulatory requests, managing deliverables and liaising directly with senior stakeholders
- Strong project management skills and proven ability to move projects through to completion, ideally within capital markets
- Strong motivation and a self-starter with a positive outlook and desire to solve problems with an ability to work independently with minimal guidance
- Proven track record of stakeholder management across the three lines of defence, ideally with experience of responding to external regulators
- Strong analytical skills with an ability to leverage Excel, PPT, Project, Visio, etc.
- Ability to identify and escalate issues effectively and appropriately
- Exceptional organizational skills and a high degree of attention to detail
- Ability to discuss in-depth technology initiatives and ability to work closely with technology teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills by clearly articulating objectives, requirements, risks and issues and interacting with Senior Management
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and effective manner and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to take ideas forward and to challenge others with integrity and maturity
