The International Casualty team is a new division under Markel International Specialty launched in Dec 2023, with underwriters situated in the London, Australia, Dubai, Hong Kong and India office. We underwrite a diverse insurance and reinsurance portfolio of risk classes in General Liability, Construction Projects, Life Sciences and Environmental Liability. We underwrite and issue the Lloyds paper under of Markel Syndicate 3000. The current role is based in Hong Kong as part of the Asia Casualty team which started in July 2024, geographically cover all underwriting service on casualty businesses in Asia excluding Dubai and India, providing administrative and technical support to the Senior Underwriter.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Review under process (re)insurance applications, gather information from various sources. Conduct risk assessment and prepare risk evaluation forms.
  • Liaise with brokers/cedants throughout the underwriting process under Senior Underwriter direction and guidance.
  • Prepare underwriting related documents including quotes and policy documents for own accounts or for Senior Underwriter review where applicable.
  • Follow up on aged debtors, outstanding information, original policy documents
  • Participate in internal and external meetings, writeup of discussion notes where necessary.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned to assure operation efficiency, information and records accuracy in the systems, business excellence.
  • Develop and maintain effective business relationship and trading network and establish respectful relationship with staffs across the organization.
  • Utilise and adhere to internal guidelines, procedures and service standards to ensure that all assigned work/transactions are processed accurately in a timely manner and meet compliance standards.
  • Provide preparation and organization support on Markel events where required.
