Senior Vice President / Executive Director – Cash Equities Settlements (APAC)

A leading global financial institution is seeking a highly experienced Senior Vice President or Executive Director to oversee its Cash Equities Settlements operations across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Based in Hong Kong, this senior leadership role is responsible for managing complex settlement processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering a high level of service to clients and internal stakeholders.

This role sits at the centre of one of the most dynamic and fast-paced areas of the financial markets. You will lead a seasoned team responsible for managing trade settlements across the region and play a critical role in maintaining operational stability, reducing risk, and driving continuous improvement. Your expertise will directly contribute to the firm's reputation for reliability and efficiency in the global marketplace.

Key Responsibilities:

Reconciliation & Controls

  • Oversee daily bank and internal control account reconciliations
  • Manage monthly reconciliations related to broker rebates
  • Supervise stock borrowing and lending (SBL) reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance

Settlement Operations

  • Lead the end-to-end settlement process for cash equities across all APAC markets
  • Resolve settlement discrepancies efficiently to ensure trades are accurately processed
  • Effectively manage settlement-related risks, including failed trades, counterparty exposure, and mark-to-market risks
  • Coordinate SBL activities including settlement, returns, collateral management, and associated fees and rebates
  • Ensure timely processing of intercompany transactions, proxy fees, penalties, and other settlement-related charges
  • Liaise with internal teams, including Sales and Client Services, to address reconciliation exceptions and process escalations
  • Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic operational projects

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent; deep knowledge of cash equities and APAC markets
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in financial services, with a strong focus on sell-side operations
  • Demonstrated leadership at a senior level, with proven ability to lead teams and deliver results in high-pressure environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; fluent in English
  • High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commitment to operational excellence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; VBA or programming experience is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of settlement and payment systems, as well as transaction and risk management workflows
