Our client, a prominent private bank, is seeking a proactive Credit Controller to join their credit team in Hong Kong. Reporting to the Head of Credit Administration, this role focuses on managing credit risk, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the institutions credit administration processes through effective collaboration with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily margin requirements and limit breaches, coordinating with Relationship Managers to address excesses and respond to their inquiries.
- Draft margin call and enforcement notices in partnership with Relationship Managers and senior leadership, and, when necessary, execute portfolio liquidations with traders if resolution is not achieved.
- Verify pending payments, cashier withdrawals, and trade activities.
- Record, track, and escalate special approval conditions and covenants as required.
- Monitor market news, price fluctuations, and issuer risks using platforms like Bloomberg and Refinitiv, escalating potential issues with detailed impact assessments.
- Conduct portfolio evaluations, stress tests, and market risk analyses, summarizing findings for management.
- Input and manage credit parameters, including limits, risk categories, collateral pledges, and pricing.
- Identify emerging collateral risks through ongoing portfolio and market surveillance.
- Compile and maintain internal reports, trackers, and management information for stakeholders, including senior management, head office, regulators, and auditors.
- Analyze securities daily to determine applicable lending rates and weightings.
- Generate regular and ad hoc reports for head office and governance committees.
- Perform simulations of client positions to assess risk scenarios.
- Support ad hoc projects and requests as directed.
Risk Management:
- Adhere to internal policies, procedures, and external regulatory standards to minimize financial and reputational risks.
- Ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements related to Credit Administration and Control.
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in credit control, risk management, or a related field within financial services.
- Strong understanding of credit risk principles and regulatory compliance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with Relationship Managers, traders, and senior management.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is an advantage.
