Position Description

This role reports directly to the Deputy Head of China/HK research (Ding Luo) assuming responsibility for the Banks, Insurance and Fintech product and team. Who is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the industry product, including the current coverage breadth while growing client awareness and impact. The head is simultaneously responsible for their own research output and client franchise while growing the regional franchise on factors such as client votes, readership, requests and meetings. 

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Assume a client-facing leadership role in presenting CLSAs Banks, Insurance and Fintech product via regionally coordinated thematic and thought leadership reports in collaboration with colleagues, industry and academic partners
  • Manage and lead the regional industry research team including determining coverage, responsibilities and KPIs on collaboration with local management. 
  • Manage resource and process optimisation decisions in collaboration with group and country management teams to constantly improve the product
  • Conduct in-depth industry and company research. Publish research reports and other materials on individual stocks and the sector as a whole. 
  • Proactively engage with institutional investors through phone calls, meetings and roadshows.
  • Actively monitor the covered industries and corporates and yield distinctive investment idea. 
  • Liaise with corporates and industry experts to host various events. 
  • Coordinate with the CITICS, CLSA-U and CRR teams (among others) on any industry-related product to the product is highly different, relevant and impactful. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or above, preferably in a financial related discipline
  • Energy and enthusiasm to drive CLSAs industry strategy both externally and internally 
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • High sense of commercial awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisation skills
  • Excellent English writing skills an presentation skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Capability to manage indirect resources in order to successfully produce innovative research products
